Rat Off: The Rat On Series Calls It A Day

0 Flares 0 Flares ×

The Radar is sad to report that the solid underground show series Rat On is winding down. It’s unclear whether anyone else will take on / inherit the name, or what the future holds for it at this point, but we hope someone else with the drive and desire could pick it back up – venues like Harleys really need it.

We previously published a pretty deep piece into the series (here and here), so rather than repeat ourselves we thought we’d put out a little summary of the shows – if you went to any or have any feedback please share your stories in the comments!

Total events organized: 9 (including the upcoming show on May 23rd). This doesn’t include Rat On Nantong which was cancelled, but it’s worth a mention as a lot of work went into it nonetheless. Also we can’t forget the first event was a mini-fest over 3 days.

We asked co-founder Nathan for a final address to the Shanghai community. Here’s what he has to say:

Firstly I would like to say thanks to China Music Radar, Split Works and Wooozy for all their support. Also to Jake Newby, Erica Martin and Sacco, you were a huge relief and such easy people to get on with in the media circles. There should be more like you guys and girl…

I would also like to give a huge, massive, gigantic thank you to all the bands that played. I know sometimes Harleys can be a hard place to play, but not one band member had anything bad to say, they all gave it their best, and all for next to nothing – just for the hell of having a good time.

It would have been almost impossible for me to do the shows if it wasn’t for F; she pulled through every time, no matter how busy she was, I could rely on her.

To everyone that came to a show thanks as well, especially the regulars.

But honestly the biggest thank you goes to Rambo and all the Harleys staff. Rambo trusted me to do as I though right, he never questioned my ideas and was really supportive, not just of Rat On, but the whole music scene. He would be the guy always screaming loudest for an encore. He is a great person to work with.

So don’t count Rat On dead yet, who knows, you may see some Shanghai bands flying off to Bali soon.

Rat On

Nathan

Come along on May 23rd and show your support and thanks at Factory54! Rat On will be colliding with Let’s Get Naked And Listen To A Bunch Of Drones for a very special finale.
