Chinese rock on CCTV: Bands on TV for Euro 2012

We’re playing catchup with this post but since Euro 2012 is still going on, you can still catch these songs on the TV. On June 4 and 5 in Beijing, over 30 bands gathered at Tango 3F (the former Star Live) to record up to 3 songs that would be broadcast as background music during the commercial breaks of Euro 2012 matches on CCTV5. So instead of Chinese commercial jingles or Shakira over and over (and over again), football fans will be treated to songs by China’s leading bands from all genres.

The list of artists and bands reads like a who’s who of the Chinese rock scene spanning both genres and generations. According to Beijing music blogger and Radar pal BeijingDaze, CCTV5 is definitely playing the all the songs too – he recently heard Suffocated soundtracking a highlight reel. Euro fans, who have you heard playing on TV during the matches? Let us know in the comments section or Tweet us @chinamusicradar.
