Midi Update
With more twists and turns than the Monaco Grand Prix, it appears our favorite Chinese festival is still on!
A few days ago, organisers announced a delay of the Midi Festival to October 9/10 and change of location back to Haidian Park.  It was announced on the Midi School forum yesterday here, that the Midi Music Festival will, in fact, still go forward over the October holiday BUT will take place on the grounds of the Midi School itself. The dates have been listed at October 1-5, running between two in the afternoon and ten in the evening. There will be two stages – a BIG stage and a SMALL stage, although what bands will be performing on these stages has not yet been revealed.

The reason given for the change once again bears testament to our good friend “Chinesec red-tape”. Apparently, the Olympic Air Defense Security Team who have been stationed on the main Haidian lawn in recent times will be packing up their things and leaving.  After they dismantle their temporary housing and extensive infrastructure, the lawn must remain untouched until the relevant government departments complete an inspection to work out how much they can fine them!
Our hearts go out to the folks at Midi for their tireless efforts and extreme patience to put their festival on, in a year when they have been thwarted at every turn! Rock on Midi, even if it is only in the parking lot next to the headmaster’s office!!
