YuGong

On Saturday the 21st, Beijingers will congregate to celebrate Yugong Yishan’s 9th year in service as a pillar of China’s burgeoning live events circuit. The reserved facade of this venue has welcomed in pretty much every major local band, along with debuting foreign acts.  Over its two incarnations the venue has earned a reputation for being one of the country’s most influential live music venues.

The name Yugong Yishan actually references a Chinese proverb about a foolish man who attempted to level the mountains that blocked his path to the south. A wise man stopped by and ridiculed him for his vain attempt at defying nature. But the old man challenged him, saying that when he died, his sons and grandchildren would persist. A god of the mountains was touched by his perseverance, and so helped to bring them down. Yugong Yishan likewise perseveres, helping to slowly change the face of China’s youth by providing awesome gigs and a place where creative minds and talent can meet.

Starting with a poster exhibition in the early evening, the night progresses with a line-up of heavy hitters including:

-Car Sick Cars
-Long Shen Dao
-Whai
-Chasing Stars
-Nova Heart
…amongst other.
