Thanks to Jake Newby and his great new blog (HERE, everyone). He has drawn our attention to another Guardian article on the Chinese music scene. This time the author was at the These Are Powers, PK14 and CarSick Cars show, a JV between Split Works and Maybe Mars, and comments on the seemingly rude health of the Chinese music scene.
Man, these guys need new material. We could point you in the direction of 100 or so of these articles, that all say essentially the same thing, with the same bands and the same analogies. That could be because the scene is still small, or it could be because these journalists never seem to scratch the surface of what is really going on here. Still, it is heartening that Shanghai is beginning to get some love, despite the fact that the article focused on those same old Beijing bands.
