In May, a company from Canada brought an event called Transmit China to the Middle Kingdom for the second time. Transmit’s focus was to bring the Canadian Music industry and the nascent Chinese one closer together. Transmit China 2009 featured 5 Canadian bands, playing a showcase in the Star Live, Beijing as well as touring a further 2-6 cities variously. There were also a series of talks and roundtables featuring around 30 Canadian music industry types and their Chinese brethren.  You can see more HERE

Transmit China was an offshoot of the Transmission event (now Transmit Now) that is enjoying its third year this September.  From their own site, it is described thusly:

transmitNOW, transmitLIVE and transmitTALKS. From here on in, we are offering three different ways to connect to the artists and professionals that are actively engaged in re-defining the music business and other creative industries affected by the massive changes taking place around us.

and there is a video on the intro post HERE.

Part of the braindump is Politalk48, an interesting way of getting people to discuss their thoughts from different parts of the globe.  Participants are given 48 hours to get involved in 2 rounds of email debate.  The conversation is moderated in Canada and the results posted.
