Now this is a rumour we’ve been hearing for a while, and now it is in print.

Beijing’s Midi Festival will most likely not happen in the city this year, but instead relocate to Zhenjiang, a city 2 hours from Shanghai.  With all the problems that Midi and Modern Sky Festivals have experienced over the last few years from the Beijing authorities, we can only say this must be a good move for the Midi crew themselves.  However, it is a tragedy that the country’s music capital will lose one of its institutions.

You can read more about it here.  We wish Zhang Fan and his team all the luck in the world for their new venture.

But fear not.  It looks like Modern Sky have conceived of a new festival – Strawberry will take place on the 1-3 May at  TongZhou Canal Park.  Deerhoof will be headlining.  Watch this space for more!
