If you read this site regularly, you will know that we like festivals. Well, City Weekend have alerted us to another festival in the offing, slightly different to all the others that we cover.
This one is named the Shanghai Chamber Music Festival and featured concerts, workshops, open masterclasses and a whopping great prize. 134,000RMB in prize money will be given out in a competition that celebrates the life of Haydn on the 200th anniversary of his death. From City Weekend:
The competition seeks to recognize and encourage the country’s best chamber musicians, and foster the growth of chamber music in China. This is a China-wide competition, to which string quartet and piano trio groups from all of China’s music conservatories have been invited to participate.
The festival runs from the 11th – 16th December. If you are into quintets and minuets, then make sure you check it out.
