Black Rabbit Music Festival 2012

Editor’s Note: Department of Shameless Self-Promotion, Population: Us. As many of the readers of the blog know, as Split Works we are co-producing Black Rabbit Music Festival.

After the smashing success of last year’s Black Rabbit Music Festival, event co-producers Taihe Live and Split Works are incredibly excited to formally announce that the festival will be returning for a second year. Happening in October in Shanghai, we can’t reveal the artists coming for Black Rabbit Music Festival 2012 just yet, but rest assured that they are even bigger than last year’s lineup of Ludacris, 30 Seconds to Mars, Hebe, PK 14, Yellowcard and more. We’ll leave it up to you to contemplate the possibilities.

In the meantime, re-live the magic with the official 2011 Black Rabbit Music Festival wrap video, and follow Black Rabbit on Facebook, Twitter, Douban and Weibo for all the latest updates, lineup announcements, ticketing, venue, prizes and much much more.

Blog hiatus because of massive Black Rabbit Festie and TransmitCHINA work overload

Last week we only managed one post. That’s the worst week we’ve had for quite a while.

Reason being is because our company – Split Works – has taken on quite a lot of work over this next month.

September 14-16: we are hosting the TransmitCHINA Creative Industries summit near Beijing. The pitch is that we are getting 150 thought leaders and influences to Commune at the Great Wall to discuss the issues with and solutions to Creative Industries, particularly with respect to China. The list of speakers and delegates is pretty impressive (even if we do say so ourselves). It will be a killer couple of days.

September 17: we will be in Beijing hosting the first of two legs of the Black Rabbit Festival. It’s headlined by Thirty Seconds to Mars, Ludacris and Hebe (Shanghai only) and supported by OPPO Real phones. It’s the deepest international lineup of any festival to come to China and you might know artists such as Titus Andronicus, Gold Panda, Mount Kimbie, 120 Days etc. They are playing with the some of the most awesome of domestic talent: PK14, Uprooted Sunshine, Nanwu etc. and if you like any those artists, you should definitely pitch up.

September 18: We’re doing the same as above in Shanghai.  From about 7pm, we will be letting our hair down (we hope) so come join us for a some booze and great music……

Vice x Intel Creator’s Project, InterCity Music Festival, Black Rabbit Music Festival

Silly season is almost upon us again. Vice and Intel (and this year Dell as well) have announced the second installment of their Creator’s Project Beijing event. It will be at 798 in Beijing again and features UK artists Mt. Kimbie and Optimo (who were at the 2009 JUE Festival) and US experimental artist Glasser. The music will be rounded off by PK14, Shou Wang and Supermarket.

Over at Weibo, Pilot Records are releasing the lineup for their second running of the InterCity Music Festival (held in both Beijing and Guangzhou) artist by artist. So far, in terms of international heft, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will be gracing the stage with Gossip Girl come pop-punk band front woman Taylor Momson, now of the Pretty Reckless. Follow them here.

Finally, have you guessed at the Black Rabbit Music Festival lineup yet. The organizers (one of which is our partner company Split Works) have put a crossword up. Guess the clues, confirm the lineup.
