DMC Punk Club Opening in Beijing

Tongzhou rises from the ashes (RIP Raying Temple) with DMC, a punk club co-owned by Li Yang, aka Spike of Beijing punk stalwarts Demerit. Technically open since late July, the venue’s first official public show happens this weekend with Discord, Bedstars and maybe even Demerit themselves playing unplugged.

Paraphrasing Radar pal Andy Best, it takes longer to get from the central Gulou area of Beijing to Tongzhou than the trip from the Former French Concession in Shanghai to Suzhou (another city). Unsurprisingly, the previous attempt at a music venue in Tongzhou was the sparsely populated, perpetually on-the-run and much-beloved experimental noise fish farm (really) Raying Temple. We’ve gone there. It is far-the-f*ck-away. But punk has always enjoyed a larger following than harsh noise, so we hope that DMC can lure the mohawks out there with the promise of authentic music and cheap beer.

Show poster below. Let us know if you make the trek this weekend!
