Zhang Yimou’s Turandot

An excellent review article of the recent Turandot operatic performance in Beijing’s Bird’s Nest can be found on the Beijinger HERE.

Yes, we know the Bird’s Nest needs to be filled.  Yes, we know Zhang Yimou is the don of that venue, but opera in an outdoor stadium that fits nearly 100,000 people???

For those sitting above field level, however – which is to say, the vast majority of those in attendance on Tuesday and Wednesday – paying any price was probably too much.

Enough said.
