60th Anniversary washout

On Twitter this morning, a friend that we follow wished the Chinese Communist Party a happy 60th Birthday. Well, the powers that be are doing everything possible to make sure the party is as turgid and dull as it can be. Off the back of the banning of all foreign artists from the Modern Sky Festival (HERE and HERE), it seems like the ban is nationwide.

We heard late last night that the International Noise Conspiracy show in YYT was also cancelled, and sure enough, Andy Best (resurrected blogger – yay!) has confirmed it HERE.

In a group message issued over Douban today, YYT say the show will go on featuring the local acts only at a reduced ticket rate. They keep it guarded but mention it affects all the band’s shows including Chengdu and Modern Sky, and say to check the Modern Sky group to see the reason.

This would not be a government directive – it was specifically requested by Modern Sky of the organizers of the International Noise Conspiracy shows that the band not play any other shows….

  2. Andy Best says:

    Why?

I suppose that;s what the YYT message is pointing to on the Modern Sky board.
